Hurray!Japan Donates 2,800 Oxygen Concentrators to Indonesia

Bisnis.com, JAKARTA - The Japanese government provided assistance in the form of 2,800 oxygen concentrators to Indonesia today, Tuesday (20/7/2021) amid the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia.Reporting from the official website of the Japanese Embassy to Indonesia, the Japanese government has decided to provide emergency grant assistance according to Indonesia's needs, worth approximately US$5.6 million or around Rp81.4 billion."Japan will donate 2,800 oxygen concentrators to Indonesia through the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS)," the official statement said.According to the statement, the aid aims to support the handling of Covid-19 in Indonesia, which is a strategic partner for Japan."Japan will continue to provide support to Indonesia's efforts to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic through various assistance, including the provision of 2.16 million doses of vaccine which were delivered on July 1 and 15 last."Previously, Indonesia also received oxygen concentrator assistance from the South Korean government.On Sunday evening (18/07/2021), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that the aid had arrived at Soekarno Hatta Airport, on Asiana Airlines flight OZ761.The assistance is considered a cooperation support from the South Korean Government for efforts to overcome Covid-19 in Indonesia."Witnessed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the support in the form of 200 oxygen concentrator units has been handed over by the South Korean Embassy in Jakarta to the Ministry of Health's Health Crisis Center. The assistance will be distributed to health facilities in need in several cities in Indonesia, including in Jakarta, Central Java and East Java," reads the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.The cooperation support is a follow-up to the results of the meeting between Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi and Foreign Minister RoK Chung Eui-yong in Jakarta on June 25, 2021.
